Hello Friends! Welcome to my first EVER blog post… so bare with me. My name is Wendy (wen-dee not win-dee), and I am a boomerang kid.
What’s a boomerang kid? Well, it’s not as cool as a hulahoop kid (see Amy Imdieke), or a Star Wars kid (remember him?), but thanks to the economic downturn that started in 2008, millions of young people, myself included, have found it necessary to move backward in order to move forward.
I am an energetic twenty-something-year-old who, after college, moved back home to live with my parents, and still has yet to move out. As I mentioned above, the media would qualify this as a “boomerang kid,” which is a young adult who goes back to live with their parents after a period of independence. Have you ever seen the Toyota Empty Nester Ads? If not, see it here. This ad really hit home for me. I often come home to find my retired parents with our neighbors sitting at the dining room table enjoying a beverage and having a competitive game of Rummikube, I often play a game or too, but after losing I politely retire to my basement bedroom. There I relax with my cat Burton, and watch reruns of either Law and Order or Dance Moms (don’t judge). On a more eventful night, I enjoy meeting up friends and sampling wines and craft beers, or spending time outdoors.
I graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in Marketing Communications and minor is Mass Communications. From there, I went on to follow a career in banking where I stayed for four years before joining the Gaslight Creative team.
My effective communications skills and high-quality service to clients and team members are what I bring to the table. I am so excited and happy to be working with the Gaslight team, they are truly one-of-a-kind individuals. I could not ask to be in a better working environment; the team’s willingness to help, power to motivate, and passion for their clients are all truly admirable.
A client once said to me:
“When we work together, I feel like everything is simpler. You truly care about my business and go above and beyond to help my business be successful… I feel when we talk that my dream is do-able.”
That’s the best compliment I’ve ever received. And that’s what my work is all about.
MORE INTERESTING FACTS:
• I don’t mean to interrupt people. I just randomly remember things and get really excited.
• I remember way too many small details about people so I have to act dumb sometimes so I don’t freak them out.
• I went to speech class from the age of three until fourth grade. I really have to concentrate sometimes when saying big words…
• I don’t care who dies in a movie, as long as the animals live.
• I’m the type of person who looks at the menu, but ends up ordering the save exact thing every time.
• I am a lifelong learner, craft beer drinker, and a networking machine.
