Ethan – 10 Years, 10 Employees, 10 Things

The guitar pick represents a newer hobby of mine. Learning to play guitar is something I’ve been doing slowly for a few years. I mostly just play parts of songs that I like and a few little riffs. AC/DC is my main go-to.

Stephen King’s IT is my favorite book. I’m a Stephen King fan because he is such a master at making unbelievable things seem real. I love the characters and settings that he invents. IT is my favorite of his work, but The Shining and Pet Sematary are great too. Even though we do very different work, he’s still a big creative influence to me.

The pen is my go-to drawing tool. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. It’s always been a part of my life. I’ve used this pen to draw animals, aliens, vehicles, zombies and all kinds of nonsense.

Drawing was my gateway into graphic design, and the Apple Pencil is a representation of my transition from paper to digital work. I use the Apple Pencil for digital drawing on my iPad. Sometimes I’ll start something from scratch on the iPad, or I’ll begin a drawing on paper and finish it digitally. This tool has opened up so many possibilities for me in terms of drawing and graphic design.

I like to paint, and I like being bad at it. It’s a hobby that I explore every once in a while. I’ve never tried to be good at it or to improve. It’s fun to have a creative avenue without any pressure to get better at it.

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies. It’s the reason why I love movies so much. This is the movie that made realize the kind of work that is put in behind the scenes. I’m just as interested in what goes on behind the camera as the movies themselves. Jurassic Park was a revolution for special effects and a huge landmark in film history.

The Black Hills is one of my favorite places to visit. I have a lot of family members that live out there. This rock came from the mountain where Crazy Horse is being made.

Favorite cola. Yep.

This is the mug I drink out of every day when I’m doing my creative work. In order to keep its creative energy secured, I’ve never washed it. Just kidding! Relax.

I keep this little salt lamp in my office. Supposedly, it emits negative ions or something. I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s cool and I like it.
