Building an Online Sales Strategy

Are You Maximizing Your Online Sales Potential?

As a business owner, it’s easy to put your website on the back burner. But if the past two years have taught us anything, it’s that your online presence can no longer take a back seat.

Sometimes upgrading your website requires a total overhaul, and sometimes small changes can add up to big results.  Last year, we published a blog about how your website can work for you by saving time and garnering leads, ultimately helping to drive business growth.

An obvious way your website can “work” for you is for it to become another source of income by adding ecommerce functionality. What may be less obvious is how to go about selling online, especially if you don’t sell products.

Could building an online sales strategy and adding ecommerce to your website be a viable business goal?

If You Sell Products …

If your business is focused on selling products, adding inventory to your website is always a good idea. This may seem daunting, but remember, you don’t have to put your entire inventory online. In addition, point-of-sale (POS) systems often have an online component, making it easier for you to integrate your inventory with your website.

If You Sell Services …

Consider adding products that compliment the services you provide. During the pandemic, we saw many industries add online stores in short order. For example, we helped a local hair salon create an online store for their line of beauty products, and it sustained them during a very scary time. Now that they are fully operational, the store is still functioning as another income stream.

Another trend that we believe is here to stay is virtual services. Adding a virtual component to your service offering can be as simple as adding a page to your website explaining the process and a shopping cart. Education, healthcare, personal coaching, mental health, personal training, wardrobe consulting, tax preparation, legal services – you name it, you can probably engage with a service provider online. So why not take this show on the road? Uh… I mean, online.
